Holy Esque's new offering "Tear" is a perfect storm of pain and beauty
Glaswegian outfit Holy Esque are unveiling a striking new track titled "Tear" today on Best Fit.
The track features on the band's upcoming debut, At Hope's Ravine, and links up with the glorious "Silences" and "Hexx" in giving fans a preview.
Lead vocalist Pat Hynes demonstrates his magnetic talent on "Tear". His caustic, serrated howls punch from his lips with gusto; every line sounds more painful than the last, but he continues in an act of self-flagellation. It's emotional, beautiful, and hella noisy thanks to the combined efforts of booming drums, electrifying basslines, and squalling post-punk axes.
Speaking about the track, Hynes says: “’Tear’ is a great example of two of the central themes of the album – darkness vs. light and hope. The song has an emotional weight and looks at the ever-constant fears and woes of everyday life against the hope of something better. It touches on escapism and the pursuit of greater things. It’s essential to the history and make-up of Holy Esque today.”
At Hope's Ravine is due for release 26 February on Beyond The Frequency. "Tear" is released on a limited edition 7" (backed with new cut "Oslo").
