Hazlett’s "Karaoke" is an uplifting anthem of loyalty and friendship
Brisbane-based singer/songwriter Hazlett is back with the warm and tender "Karaoke", which features on his second EP Thundering Hopes.
Following on from March’s "Easy Now Tiger", Hazlett’s "Karaoke" is an uplifting song based around a wild night out in New York City with Lindsay Lohan.
Built on a folk-tinged acoustic guitar melody, "Karaoke" sees Hazlett deliver his signature warm vocals, while still leaning in to his husky delivery that emphasises the comforting tone of the song. The fingerpicking guitar melody, combined with Hazlett’s voice, creates an intimate atmosphere.
The new single begins to evolve as it reaches the first chorus. The percussion, subtle electronica and harmonies are introduced, elevating the acoustic track into a warm anthem that explores the idea of being there for your friends when they need you.
Speaking about the track and the night with Lindsay Lohan that the song is based around, Hazlett says, "When that happens I have a paternal instinct that kicks in, I get a one track mind for making sure nothing happens to my friends."
