Hazel English announces double EP, shares new single "Fix"
Building from the success of her debut EP Never Going Home, Hazel English has announced a new double EP release.
Compiling her debut EP alongside six new tracks to stand as her first full length LP, Just Give In / Never Going Home is released in May.
The 26 year old is teasing the release with new single "Fix". Sun kissed and starry eyed in equal measure, the song is an ode to heartfelt romance and a search for the most vivid feelings you can get from another person. "I want to feel alive," she sings, weightless melodies spiralling gracefully through the heat of the moment, drifting along breezy rhythms and back to euphoria.
The accompanying video is the perfect compliment, a cinematic embodiment of instant attraction and the sparks that fly. Taking influence from Beyond Mountains, More Mountains, and The Virgin Suicides, the video was filmed in and around the parks and backstreets of LA.
“At the heart of it, you strip back the production and it still has to be a good song,” English says of her songwriting process. “You can’t trick somebody with production. If it’s a good song, you know it’s a good song.”
And that's exactly what this record promises to offer, with lyrics as candid as the melodies are hooky. “It’s harder to be as brutally honest when there’s not something else going on in the background,” English continues. “For me, I’m using music as a vessel to express those things.”
English celebrates the release with a tour across the Europe and the UK in May. Details of these shows can be found below.
