"Stay" is the grandly anxious, piano-led new track from Hanne Leland
Following on from her support of All Saints last year, and February's "Carry On" track, London-based Norwegian Hanne Leland is back with a brand new single.
Now a fully-fledged electronic pop act, "Stay" is very much in the icy Nordic genre...yet there are traces of Leland's time in Nashville as a country pop perfomer in the sombre piano chords and frequent rousing moments.
Produced with Jim Eliot (Ellie Goulding), Leland says that "the recording process was really emotional as the song is very personal to me, and I feel like you can really hear the raw emotion coming through in the song."
Wracked with confusing but anchored by dirge-like piano chords and water ambience, "Stay" reaches a crescendo in its chorus. Leland is able to let her powerful voice explode through the heart of the song before lowering her tone to a more reflective, fragile mood for a touching outro. Hanne Leland is fast developing into a might fine song writer.
