Haiku Hands "Dare You Not To Dance" on dazzling new single
Australia's Haiku Hands are very quickly making a name for themselves as purveyors of hectic, out-of-this-world dance-pop. Appropriately neamed new single "Dare You Not To Dance" is yet another string to their bow.
Opening with tantalising staccato strings, "Dare You Not To Dance" lulls the listener into a false sense of security with delicate vocal harmonies; the driving beat the only clue as to the mayhem set to be unleashed. Accelerating into one of the three-piece's signature club-ready drops, the tuneful introduction quickly gives way to a cheerleader-esque chant of that refrain. "Dare You Not To Dance" isn't just a song title, it's a very real challenge that you're absolutely going to fail. "Dare you not to dance, fuckers!"
Haiku Hands' list of 2018 achievements is every bit as ridiculous as their compelling yet batshit sound: a break-out show at Brighton's Great Escape festival, an Australian tour in support of Bloc Party, a tonne of festival appearances, and a seven-date UK tour. If "Dare You Not To Dance" is anything to go by, the trio aren't planning to lose that momentum anytime soon.
