Grand Pax's "Bunk" embraces the rawness of her destructive qualities
On moody new release "Bunk", London's Grand Pax showcases her talent for hand-crafting glittering diamond-in-the-rough pop.
"'Bunk' for me depicts the struggle with the darker aspects of myself," Grand Pax explains. "I find I'm typically at either side of the extremes; destructive, or hopeful. The process of landing at either end can be hectic."
With a pulsing beat sneaking in around the 80-second mark, "Bunk" can be seen as embodying that hectic confusion – albeit in a manner somewhat refined into the track's glimmering chorus. It's a song somewhat emblematic of a year of growth as an artist, with Grand Pax whittling down the niche she occupies into her own distinctive sonic home.
"I've been listening progressively more and more to music that straddles electronic pop and alternative," Grand Pax says of the track's sound. "'Bunk' for me was something of a milestone to write. It’s my own personal anthem."
Grand Pax supports London duo IDER on tour across the UK later this month.
