GRAE wants to “Slow Down” in her entrancing new single
Toronto-based pop artist GRAE announces her sophomore EP Bang Bang with the sultry new single “Slow Down”.
Contrary to the lockdown logistics of the world in 2020, physicality has always been a pivotal and necessary part of human existence. GRAE recognises this, and the Toronto-based singer-songwriter fully embraces the subject on her stellar new single “Slow Down”.
The first track shared following the release of last year’s successful EP New Girl, “Slow Down” marks a welcome return for the artist and is the first tease of her sophomore collection Bang Bang, to be released later this year. Teaming up with director Priya Howlader to create the stunning visual, “Slow Down” is a sultry stunner viewed through the vaseline-lensed sheen of its soft, retro melodrama.
Slinky and smooth, “Slow Down” has GRAE ramping up all her charm to create an undeniably seductive atmosphere. Staccato percussion brings a sense of urgency to the sexual tension, a feeling that is only intensified by GRAE’s own brazenly soulful coos and come-to-bed allure. It is a celebration of anticipation.
"‘Slow Down’ was definitely liberating for me to write,” shares GRAE of her new single “Womxn are often judged or shamed when it comes to touching on topics that explore our sexuality, but writing this song allowed me to open up a different side of myself for sure, one I hadn’t been that in tune with prior.
“I hope the womxn listening to this song feel the same way I did when I wrote it, that feeling of control and power,” she continues. “I think it’s important to cancel this stigma that womxn can’t enjoy anything casual. Having a healthy relationship with your own sexuality is important."
