GRACEY returns with uplifting ode to friendship on “Got You Covered”
BRIT nominee GRACEY has released “Got You Covered”, her first earworm of 2021, once again collaborating with producer duo Billen Ted to make some pure pop magic.
After being nominated for a BRIT Award for Best British Single with “Don’t Need Love” (also made with Billen Ted, and producer 220 KID), GRACEY has released her banger of a new track “Got You Covered”. It’s that time of the year when soundtracks of summer begin to appear, and this one's a strong contender.
Whether you’re in love or not, this song is for you. Written as a platonic ode to her best mate, GRACEY sings about being there for her friend no matter what – which is especially fitting after a year of not seeing each other.
“Recently she’s been battling an eating disorder alongside going through a heartbreak," explains GRACEY. "It’s about having someone’s back through the highest and lowest points of life, and it’s my way of telling her she is never alone. It’s a message I think needs to be said right now; while the pandemic has made it hard to physically be together, it’s proved the importance and value of these relationships even more."
A slight departure from her debut mini album The Art of Closure, "Got You Covered” moves away from the moodier, heartbroken and darker sound, and instead draws from classic UK garage and summer house music. It’s all tied together with GRACEY’s consistently impeccable vocal. Undeniably a Billen Ted track, the song is joyful, uplifting and the perfect antidote to the winter blues we’re finally escaping.
“I was so excited to reunite with Billen Ted," says GRACEY. "They were a huge part of bringing ‘Don’t Need Love’ to life and they did the same with this song!"
"The garage/dance influence they brought takes me right back to nights with my friendship group as 17-year-olds, and I hope it spreads some good energy as we head into the summer months.”
