Grace Mitchell offers up another punchy pop ballad with #feeling on new single "Runaway"
Fast rising Portland based newcomer Grace Mitchell continues to impress on punchy pop ballad "Runaway".
The 16-year old singer has gathered momentum over the past month or so with initial tracks "Broken Over You" and "Your Design", each showcasing a maturity not only in songcraft and vocal ability but also the heavy hearted topics at hand. She tells Pigeons and Planes that the subject matter in this particular instance is based on "a dramatic love affair, as well as the complicated feelings that come with infatuation". Teenage angst indeed.
That being said, she still has fun with the lyrics - a nod to the iconic Toby Maguire / Kirsten Dunst scene in Spiderman ("let me be your Mary-Jane, kiss upside down in the pouring rain") lightening up the mood somewhat.
