"Twist In The Dark" is a headlong post-punk rush from Melbourne's Gold Class
Ahead of their appearance at The Great Escape and a handful of other dates, Australian foursome Gold Class are back with another brilliant blast of a single.
"Twist In The Dark" starts in the red and never lets up; the drums pound flatly and heavy bassline lays foundations for sharply detuned guitars to cut through, accompanied by vocalist Adam Curley's deep bellows.
The track hints at the turmoil of being stuck in a destructive cycle that's verging on impossible to escape from: "For a moment the world was so still / with you by my side / but we can't stop twisting / we both fell out of time" sings Curley, his inner monologue pushing towards the future but unable to shake the possibility of burning out rather than burning bright.
"Twist In The Dark" is a brilliant blast of a song, and bodes well for Gold Class' forthcoming second album produced by The Drones' Gareth Liddiard.
Gold Class will play two shows at The Great Escape, and further tour dates can be found here.
