First single "Bedford" from Emmy-nominated actress Cait Fairbanks' musical project Ginesse
You may know Cait Fairbanks as the Emmy-nominated star of CBS soap opera The Young And the Restless, but new project Ginesse reveals another facet to her talent.
Debut single "Bedford" is a stripped-back, crystalline shard of indie-pop. Fairbanks' vocal has a ringing purity, sitting pretty above a simple guitar line. It's a subtle, understated, yet assured debut with self-possessed poise and clarity of purpose.
The actress worked with her brother on a video for the single, for which she says she wanted "to have an otherworldly feel to it, but with a strong foundation in reality." Elaborating further, Fairbanks describes it as "a collection of memories that feel attainable and familiar, shot through a dream-like lens."
"We shot the New York footage about 6 months before the actual video shoot," she continues. "It wasn’t on purpose, but it worked perfectly. My hair was even longer the day of the studio performances so it felt as if I was watching myself grow, literally. The video came together through a bunch of happy accidents so it has a special place in my heart. Since it was the video for my first single I wanted to make sure it was delicately personal, but packed enough punch that you get a sense of who I am as an artist. That’s why I decided to work with my brother on this. He’s so talented and knows me so well it was easy to pull the vision together."
