
Funeral Advantage offers first taste of upcoming album Nectarine with jangly single "Black House"
Indie label Sleep Well Records is home to many Best Fit favourites, including pronoun and Charles Fauna, but it also plays host to Massachusetts-based Tyler Kershaw, aka Funeral Advantage.
Kershaw didn't come to play. "Black House" is the unerringly compelling first single to be lifted from Funeral Advantage's upcoming album; titled Nectarine and due out later this year. Like the full-length record's titular fruit, "Black House" has a juicy, complex flavour. Scattered, dancing synth lines are underpinned by jangly shoegaze guitars, whilst Kershaw's emo-tinged vocal takes the edge off the track's relentless sunshine.
Nectarine follows Funeral Advantage's 2017 EP Please Help Me, and sees Kershaw turn his eye outward in exploration of subject matter beyond the acutely personal. Fear not, though, as the signature Funeral Advantage package of words that make you feel and tunes that make you dances is still very much on the menu.
