Listen to Frida Sundemo's devastating remix of MORTEN collaboration "Beautiful Heartbeat" [Premiere]
It was only last week that Danish producer MORTEN dropped his dancefloor banger "Beautiful Heart" featuring Stockholm's Frida Sundemo, yet we've already been blessed with a stunning remix courtesy of the Swedish vocalist.
While MORTEN's original was a thumping club track barely masking the heartbreak in Sundemo's voice and lyrics, the Swede's cinematic "Space Orchestra Version" removes any danceable elements and focuses on the dramaticand plaintive nature of her contribution.
As strings swoop in and out, swelling up next to subtle percussion it's Sundemo's delivery of devastating lines such as "you make me wanna rip my heart out / erase my mind / we're stuck and there is no escaping now / please don't cry" that's the attention-grabber.
The dancefloor is empty of the people who had been giving themselves up to the night and the music, and all that's left standing is Sundemo and her regret. "I really should have seen this coming," she sings...but this person is in her blood. Whether it's the pulsating, addictive nature of the original or this widescreen, immersive reinterpretation there's sometimes no way for us to avoid the inevitable.
