Francis of Delirium contemplate alienation on new cut "Let It All Go"
American-Canadian duo Francis of Delirium add greater depth to their back catalogue with “Let It All Go”, flaunting a true grasp of the mix of vulnerability and clout that defines grunge and garage rock.
Expertly dealing with social anxiety and the accompanying alienation, Francis of Delirium's new track "Let It All Go" creates a nagging uneasiness. Jana Bahrich’s imagery is vivid and vulnerable, offering a grunge-infused poeticism akin to Bully and The Breeders.
19-year-old Bahrich's assured approach makes her lack of experience all the more difficult to comprehend. “So now you’re screaming at the top of your lungs, into silence and for no one / Staring down the bottom of the hill assuming it’s metaphoric for how you feel,” Bahrich frantically sings before a chaotic chorus.
While the frenetic tension between Bahrich’s guitar and lyrics are the key standouts on a first listen, the dramatic dynamic variation is what stays with you the longest.
“'Let It All Go’ chronicles a full commitment to isolation,” Bahrich explains. “It imagines me on a night out, drunk and babbling on about how sad I am. Nobody wants to be around that person.
“At the heart of this song, away from all the craziness, is a desire to accept change and find acceptance within myself, letting go of holding onto any pain or hurt.”
"Let It All Go" follows "Lakes" as the second single from Francis of Delirium’s upcoming Wading EP. Released via UK-based Dalliance Recordings (Gia Margaret, Common Holly, Wilsen), the latest tracks signal a subtle change in approach from Bahrich as she navigates her way into adulthood.
