Francesca Milazzo tackles The Weeknd and Lana Del Rey on new release "Young And High"
Taking on two of the masters of brooding, dark atmospherics, Francesca Milazzo manages to stand her own with her mashup of Lana Del Rey's "Young And Beautiful" and The Weeknd's "High For This".
Italian-American singer/songwriter Francesca Milazzo shows off her sultry vocal on this mesmering mashup. Listing Etta James, Nina Simone, Alabama Shakes, and Kings Of Leon as major influences, it's clear Del Rey and The Weekend are also up there given her rendition of the pair's two tracks.
With a mission to challenge pop and take risks, she explains when it comes to music: "I like to try new things. It’s about tapping into what music is supposed to be in the old school sense. I want to always keep it real and never conform."
Making music that moves people is big for Milazzo: "No matter what the song is about, I want to make people feel something. They might want to dance. They might want to cry. As long as they take away some sort of emotion, that’s most important to me."
The new track follows recently aired original "Ghosting Me".
