Released without fanfare, “Crying Fit” is the first cut off Wax Museum, the debut longplayer by Housewarming Records man Erik David Hidde – trading under the Floral V name.
Formed of sounds that crumble into each other over haunting layers of piano melodies, the track is punctuated with glimpses of ambient noise, yet still flavoured by its subtlety. These elements create a mood of reflection and mystery you can’t help but get lost in and the focus on Hidde’s anguished, bluesy vocal allows the track to soar.
Hidde’s poignant and retrospective lyrics call for understanding and forgiveness – a sentiment that suits perfectly the resolutions we all try to keep at this time of year.
