London producer Flaurese captures joy in the distinctive house vibe of "Silk Robe"
London-based producer Flaurese brings the groove on new cut, "Silk Robe", released today on Monki’s &Friends label. It follows his debut EP Sake of Lust.
The first thing you notice about Flaurese’s new single, "Silk Robe", is the beat. The irresistible house groove that the London producer lays down drives right from the start, paying homage to the classics of the genre but without any of the pastiche.
As such, Flaurese finds the right balance on the track, striking a good relationship between organic melody and neat production to give the filtered vocals the space to drift around its disco-infused guitar lines. His debut EP release, Sake of Lust, couldn’t have been more different to "Silk Robe"; a lo-fi slow burner, from the opening few seconds of the track to the end, there’s no getting away from the pure euphoria so central to the track.
&Friends · Flaurese - Silk RobeBut to project such variety has been the producer’s intention from the start, aiming to exemplify the diversity inherent in dance music. Drawing on his St Lucian and French-Guianese heritage, Flaurese brings to the fore a range of influences that combine with a keen understanding of the here and now, allowing him to make dance music that stands apart.
“It's that finger snap moment," notes Flaurese of how he was feeling when making "Silk Robe". "The happy melody you attempt to sing in the shower, I just wanted to bring joy".
