Feather Beds share experimental track “Cluster” from sophomore album
Intricate arrangements and celestial subject matter permeate the Dublin producer’s second record Blooming.
The moniker of artist Michael Orange, Feather Bed’s sound is a hazy mix of shoegaze and electronica that verges on the ambient. Tracks like “Cluster” occupy that space between uplifting sadness and delicate beauty, creating a sonic environment that is aptly autumnal and melancholic.
New album Blooming was mixed and co-produced by Adrian Cowley and Strands collaborator Stephen Shannon whilst Orange lived in Montreal. It follows acclaimed debut The Skeletal System.

Michael Orange speaks on the recording process: “
“I recorded lots of random, found sound stuff around the apartment & building I was living in at the time in Montreal and tried to really experiment with production. A lot of it found its way into this song and the album, in general. I think I spent about 3 hours in the bathroom one night recording the sink, shower, toilet flushing, banging on things, etc. My girlfriend probably thought I was having a breakdown. 'Point' by Cornelius is one of my favourite albums and stuff like Captain Beefheart and Faust, just reading about certain things they used to try with recording, experimenting with non-musical instruments, I just find it really interesting.”
