EP Stream: BROODS – BROODS EP
NZ brother/sister duo BROODS dropped their 6 track debut EP Pretty Thing unannounced yesterday. Co-written and produced by pop maestro Joel Little of Lorde affiliation, upon first listen the record quite literally broods with melancholic pop hooks.
“Bridges” and “Never Gonna Change” already gave us a taste of what to expect on any forthcoming releases: both tracks bolstering huge choruses, heart-tugging vocals and stunning, downtempo gushes.
“Sleep Baby Sleep” is the most charming of the newbies, cradled by lullabies and gorgeous, grave strings. “Taking You There” has an unexpected, urgent folk-pop guitar progression at its core, embellished by ethereal synths, swirling samples and brush-stroke rhythms.
In addition to the EP release, the pair have also announced their debut US shows:
24 February – Bardot, Hollywood, CA.
27 February – Rickshaw Shop, San Francisco, CA.
2 March Mar – Brooklyn Bowl, Brooklyn, NY.
3 March – Mercury Lounge, New York, NY.
