Sighting influences such as Michael Jordan, Carl Sagan, X-files and Fresh Prince of Bel Air, Brooklyn’s Empress Of has stripped back her latest track with quite stunning results, courtesy of a new film via Portals Music.

This acoustic version of ‘Hat Trick’ highlights its romanticism and allows the gentle melody to wash over you blissfully. Gaelic pump organ, Spanish guitar and a vocal perfectly at the peak of its range all dissolve together to form a seductive cocktail and a transfixing live performance; it is hard to believe it was recorded amongst the furor of SXSW.
