London dream-popper Emmy builds a delicious dreamscape with “Honey”
After a spin on Made In Chelsea earlier in the week, dream-pop merchant Emmy’s been pretty quick to get her foot on the pop ladder.
Don’t be put off by the endorsement - the London-based singer’s newest track, “Honey”, is plenty cooler than the dubious reality show on which it found a slot. It’s Emmy’s first upload to Soundcloud in three years, and sees the singer-songwriter progress from guitars and shoegaze fuzz to a new, sleeker sound. Emmy’s smoky vocal overlays a backdrop of slinky percussion, creating an expansive soundscape that falls loosely within the pop umbrella.
Darkly bewitching, “Honey” sees Emmy discovering a sound of her own that will see her shelved somewhere between Banks and Kiiara. Produced by Gustave Robic, it’s rich, intelligent songwriting, with confidence strongly evident in its teasing restraint.
