Emily Magpie soars on the glittering electro-folk of “Leave it to Fate”
Ahead of next month’s sophomore EP release, Emily Magpie shares bewitching new cut “Leave it to Fate”.
Situated somewhere in the lurch between folk and electronica, “Leave it to Fate” toys with delicately picked ukulele and skeletally minimal beats, over which Magpie’s voice takes wing. Gentle harmonies and subtle reverb build the track into a glittering, spacious soundscape–mystical, but never twee.
“Leave it to Fate” follows the first single and titular track from upcoming EP The Witching Hour, ahead of the EP’s release on 24 November. “The Witching Hour” sought to explore the intertwining concepts of magic and feminine energy through themes of witchcraft and the occult. It provides a more electronic contrast to its successor, illustrating the variety and versatility of this artist as she gears up to share her second collection of songs with the world.
