Emily Burns returns with another refined pop juxtaposition on “Damn Good Liar”
From Abbey Road Studios receptionist to skyrocketing popstar, British artist Emily Burns is back with another perfect pop hit on “Damn Good Liar”.
The Scotland-born, Warwickshire-raised artist has proven her prowess as a writer of pure pop bangers. Emily Burns has a finesse for drawing from her own vulnerabilities, sugar-coating sheer honesty with perky beats and utterly infectious hooks to create her records in a truly authentic way.
The result for her latest offering is an acceleration from the twinkly, low-key, breathy verses and exploding into an insanely catchy melody over glistening pop synths.
"”Damn Good Liar” is a really special song to me because I wrote it on my first ever writing trip to Sweden, with a production/writing duo called MadFun,” she says of the track, which was produced by Jacob Atwool and Charli XCX collaborator Siba. “I went into the session and told them all about how I'd recently been let down by someone who had led me to believe she had genuine feelings for me but in reality, didn't at all... I remember thinking - 'She's such a good liar.' It was amazing to piece the song together from that one thought, almost like therapy!"
Fresh from supporting Tove Styrke on tour and releasing her debut mini-album Seven Scenes From The Same Summer this year, Burns initially caught our eye with "Girlfriend At The Time”, followed by "Cheat" and sun-soaked anthem “Test Drive”.
