Emelie Hollow finds inspiration in cinnamon buns for new single “Like I Love You”
Since the age of 11, Norwegian artist Emelie Hollow has been writing her own songs. Seven years later, she shares new single “Like I Love You”.
Co-written with Dhani Lennevald (Lykke Li) and Carl Falk (Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj, One Direction, Ariana Grande), it’s no surprise that it’s a slice of pop gold. The stark contrast between the delicate, guitar-led verses and the more industrial chorus adds a touch of the unexpected. The siren song of Hollow’s youthful vocal is perfectly complemented by the track’s quirky electro sound, which gives an edge to the purity and sweetness of her voice.
“The making of ‘Like I Love You’, from recording it to making the video, has been such a fun, new experience for me,” Hollow tells us, over email. “When I was in Stockholm with Carl Falk and Dhani Lennevald writing the song, we ate the best cinnamon buns ever - I had three of them and got so inspired!
“I have never made a music video before, so I remember being very nervous and awkward in the beginning. I worked with the talented, Norwegian photographer, Lars Petter Pettersen, who had such cool ideas. He really made the song come alive on screen!”
