"Elliott" is a confrontational take on electronic pop from London duo FKL
London twosome FKL (FKA Funktionslust) are sharing their new B-side "Elliott" on Best Fit.
The pair - Sage Redman and Joe Gillick - are following up "On The Water", a powerful piece of screwball dark-pop, which aired earlier this month.
"Elliott" boasts confrontational electronics front and centre, with Redman's sultry voice drifting into the stratosphere, unencumbered by any grip on reality. It's clinical and affecting, swerving into alt-R&B territories on occasion, and merging avant-garde dance with grime's abrasive rhythm sections. "Elliott" is jerky and jagged and thrillingly unsafe.
Speaking about the track, FKL say: "'Elliott' is a snapshot of playground paranoia so to speak. It deals with the things we experience in our youth that we subconsciously carry into adulthood. It specifically recounts an experience from Joe's school days growing up in South London. He attended a school where coincidentally lots of great musicians (Four Tet, the XX, Hot Chip members, Burial etc.) went."
"On The Water" and "Elliott" are released on 20 May via GETME.
