Listen: Ejecta – Jeremiah (The Denier)
Back in June, we brought you the news that Ford and Lopatin maestro, Joel Ford was launching his own label, Driftless Recordings, with fellow artist Patrick McDermott. August sees Driftless’ first release, from Ejecta, the side project of Ford and Neon Indian’s Leanne Macomber.
‘Jeremiah (The Denier)’ wasn’t one of the tracks that appeared on the Driftless sampler at the start of summer, although it does bear the same Italo, Funk and Disco hallmarks as ‘Mistress’ and ‘Eleanor Lye’. Macomber’s intoxicating vocals pitch from a throaty whisper right down the mic to a glorious, sweeping purr which illuminates the melody like orange streaks carving open a 5am sky; backed all the while by Ford’s jinking, jiving synth patterns and thudding bass hits.
Ejecta’s debut LP is dropping in autumn on Driftless Recordings in the USA and the freshly minted Happy Death Records in the UK.
