Dråpe announce new album, share new track "Pie In The Sky"
Announcing the release of their new album Relax/Relapse, Norway's Dråpe have shared the video for lead album track "Pie In The Sky".
Described by frontman Ketil Myhre as being about "naïvety and living in denial”, the vocals for the track were recorded just after Myhre fell off his balcony and broke two ribs.
Nostalgic and euphoric, "Pie In The Sky" is a blissed-out offering of sweltering guitars, searing refrains, and soaring sentiments. A hazy escape from the day-to-day, the accompanying video emanates the same spirit of sun-dazed freedom resounding in the music.
"We have all experienced defeats on a personal level, and gone through a small crisis as a band," Myhre states of the albums origins. "These experiences have made us the people and the band that we are today and weʼre really proud of the result. It feels like weʼve taken a few steps back in time, both personally and musically, and though it sometimes felt like we were on the verge of losing it, we got through it. The idea is that sometimes a relapse might actually be a good thing, kind of a second chance to get better again and perhaps change things.”
Relax/Relapse is released via Riot Factory on 9 October.
