Download: Los Campesinos! – By Your Hand
By now, you’re certain to know whether you’re a Los Campesinos! fan or not. If you are, it’s likely you shelled out £30 for their recent Heat Rash venture and you can feel your heart beat in your chest as you count down the moments to your pre-order of the new album, Hello Sadness, plopping through your door. If you’re not, then this last paragraph has probably made you feel a little bit sick. Sorry about that.
Anyway, in between games of Football Manager and tweeting about X-Factor, Gareth and the band have managed to find time to put together the video for the first track on the forthcoming LP. For the first time in 2 albums, they’ve managed to make a pop song -something that could actually get played on the radio without people overtly sobbing.
Entitled ‘By Your Hands’, it doesn’t take much reading between the lines to see that this is a typically upbeat-but-ultimately-depressing number, as you’d expect from a band who’s singer recently admitted that he’ll struggle to sing these songs live without crying. There’s no weeping in the video, but Gareth does try asphyxiate himself.
They’ve also given the track away as a free download, which is some consolation if they’re missed out your town on their forthcoming world(ish) tour.
