Donnie Castle's "Wish You Well" is a chugging synth banger that reflects on a past relationship
Swedish producer Donnie Castle is back with "Wish You Well", a nostalgic, '80s-tinged synth banger that reflects on lost love.
The nocturnal track opens with night bug sounds and infectious, Kavinsky-esque synths, bubbling over a digital beat before holding back to allow the guitar melody to emphasise the sorrowful tone.
Donnie Castle's layered vocals are raw, embracing the hardships that comes with letting go of someone you love. The vocals contrast with the neon-tinged instrumentals, creating a sense of pain, urgency, and sorrow as Castle tries to be happy for his former lover moving on in life.
The vibrance of the '80s-infused, synth-fuelled melodies are foreboding when teamed with Castle's voice, chugging at pace like a car racing down a highway at midnight.
The Swedish producer says of his new single, "Even though we cared for each other and hurt each other I still wish her the best in the future. There is a place where young beings get to hear that they are beautiful and charming, never have to be worried about being poor, always gets attention, but it rips their soul apart."
