Donnie Castle gets stuck in an aggressive cycle on wrathful new track "Looping"
Gothenberg's Donnie Castle has followed up his Donnie II album with the aggressive and melancholic "Looping".
The Swedish producer and rapper opens his latest outing with space-infused synths that simmer with euphoric tones before erupting like an electrical overload as the rapper yells "I shouldn't give a fuck about drugs any more."
Castle's overwhelming entrance exudes rage as he shouts "It's just looping / I'm feeling stupid" over an abrasive bed of chaotic synths.
"Looping" also includes some softer moments - albeit melancholic - as the overcharged electronica melts away, returning to galactic undertones for the sombre verse which warps with a pulsating, charged bassline before retreating to make way for a dreamy synth melody that builds the track back up to its rage-fuelled core.
The closing segment of the track explodes with chaotic synths and snappy, persistent snares that tick relentlessly, and before long the overwhelming electronica disperses to leave a hazy, space-infused synth melody as a moment for the listener to reflect on the chaos that erupted moments before.
