New York is home to hip-hop legacies and exciting new talent, and budding emcee Doley Bernays rhymes about the street tales that separate him from the rest of his class.
Many hip-hop outlets recently commemorated one of the most polarizing figures in the genre’s history on the anniversary of his death: Tupac Shakur. In preparation for his debut EP Just In Case, NYC rapper Doley Bernays released a raw freestyle paying homage to the West Coast legend. He rhymes about life in his hometown of the Bronx, rough atmosphere and his appreciation for loyalty among friends and family. The song was produced by longtime collaborator MP Williams, who co-produced ‘Ghetto Symphony’ for A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg and Gunplay.
‘Feeling Like Pac’ has a much grittier feel than the MC’s standout summer record, ‘Till We Fall,’ and it’s a glimpse into the life Bernays lives, with circumstances similar to the ones Shakur referenced so often.
Just In Case will be released on 30 September.
