Alt-pop firebrand Disco Shrine chronicles her dating life on the explosive "Future Memories"
LA-based artist, songwriter and globe-trotting DJ Disco Shrine reveals the first chapter of her debut EP xoxo, disco.
Adding a thrilling punk splash to her evolving alternative pop world, Disco Shrine combines her love of contemporary pop with a disruptive, impassioned edge. The lo-fi buzz of her latest single makes it an even more urgent listen.
On "Future Memories" she dives into her imagination as she maps out her romantic daydreams. Of the track, she explains it's "about falling for someone without actually knowing them and imagining all the future memories you could create together," something which is sure to have become the norm as people refrained from all but essential movement outside of their own homes.
The new track also brings together a talented team of women with Liz Nistico of Holychild and Ceci G helping out with songwriting and production. As the first release from her debut EP xoxo, disco, Disco Shrine is preparing to unveil the autobiographical collection which will cover more aspects of her dating life. Simply, it's going to be an emotional rollercoaster.
Also drawing inspiration from her identity and family, her debut single "Up In The Air" tracks the emotional experience of her parents. Inspired by their immigration story from Iran to the USA the dreamy electro-pop track is a heartfelt dedication to following your dreams.
If "Future Memories" is just a lucid figment, then the rest of the EP is set to have more concrete foundations. Covering everything from love at first sight through to the empowerment of loving yourself, it's an honest journal spiked with flashes of neon from fluorescent markers, scented gel pens and glow-in-the-dark washi tape.
