Dessert release bonkers new track "Eyes Wide Shut" in candle form
Elusive LA three-piece Dessert share visual for “Eyes Wide Shut” and release debut EP inside a candle.
Yep, you read that right: you can now purchase Dessert’s debut EP Songs For Children in candle form. As a collaboration between the band and artist Kelly Isaacs, the limited edition piece is a “praying bun”. The rabbit has oversized ears on which it levitates. Inside its stomach you will find a USB holding the EP, presumably once the candle has melted considerably, which may take some time given it weighs a bulky eight pounds! The candle’s size, and the fact it's handmade, make its $200 pricetag seem ever so slightly more reasonable.
Over the past few years the band have released a number of singles all while retaining a mysterious presence. Early Soundcloud cuts “Lovelink” and “Player” mapped out the band’s genre-defying sound, whilst latest release “Eyes Wide Shut” is a short and sweet extension of Dessert’s expanding auditory, and now visual, world. The visual in question brings the “praying bun” to life in a serene forested area, complete with wildflowers and a sky full of stars as the candle burns bright.
