Barcelona-based electronic duo DESERT unveil the enchanting magic of "Sense Tu"
Comprised of Cristina Checa and Eloi Caballé, DESERT are the experimental duo who create epic soundscapes through their enchanting brand of unique electronic music.
DESERT are a duo who have been slowly picking up attention from across Spain and Europe and are now ready to take their often complex, but frequently mesmerising, sonic experiments to a wider audience.
"Sense Tu" is a perfect example of their boundless creativity, where beats relentlessly collide whilst Checa's chilling vocals float in a heavenly motion above the mayhem. It makes for a magical listen that is as hypnotic as it is unnerving.
The song is accompanied by an equally thrilling, yet unsettling video that sees strange characters venture across barron landscapes, adding to the mystique and peculiar attractiveness of DESERT's sound.
Speaking on the video they say "We shot the video in different parts of Tarragona. We were looking for horizons, arid landscapes, sand dunes, ruins…things like that. In fact, I think the concept of the video came together at the same time we found these places. After scouting the locations, we developed a bit less abstract idea connecting somewhere between spaces and actions
"The primitive idea from were we started was more about a mood, a feeling we wanted to express. The song is nostalgic, it talks about love but in a sad way. About the fear of losing something that makes you feel good, safe and cared for. It can also talk about the idea of a place or country where you belong. This nostalgia is the main feeling here. So we searched for references that somehow we related to that feeling. Then we added some symbolic elements to emphasize this idea. Eloi with the white mask is the unreachable object of desire (this could be anyone or any place). Cris trying to reach this ideal, searching but never reaching it. The black flag could symbolize death or loss, anarchy and is against the idea of a belonging to a country or place. The ruins could be something that was and is not there anymore. "
The new track comes alongside the announcement of their upcoming EP entitled SENSE and explores the ideas that we all hold within ourselves, looking at the seemingly mundane emotions that we all experience and finding the depth and complexity that lies beneath.
