DENA is at the height of her powers on understated pop track "So Wrong"
Written at a time of uncertainty, "So Wrong" sees DENA questioning the place she calls home.
"So Wrong" is a track that utilises stripped-back beats and doesn't have to work too hard to impress, as DENA's warm vocals invite you into her story as she rummages through her thoughts over the perfectly thought out backing beats.
"So Wrong" sees the Berlin-based artist team up with Canadian crooner Sean Nicholas Savage with impressive results, adding an air of exquisite elegance to the song that ultimately questions what it means to feel at home in another city, but could also double-up as an ode to a lost relationship.
"I wrote 'So Wrong' after returning to Berlin from New York, where I recorded my EP Trust some time ago. That time marked the beginnings of me questioning the idea of a city as stability and “home”. It’s a song I wrote more as an ode to a place, as to a person, it’s about (be)longing and missing and not having. During that time I had met Sean in Berlin and immediately thought it would be beautiful if he would contribute to it, and I’m so glad he felt the tune and put his space-y magic on top of the music.”
"So Wrong" is paired with lo-fi visuals that were shot by Sander Houtkruijer, and acts as a perfect lead up to DENA's upcoming album If It's Written that is due to be released on 14 September and you can pre-order the vinyl here.
