Daniel Wilson's new track "Sinner Of The Week" is a swaggering dip into '80s pop
Michigan soul sensation Daniel Wilson has shared "Sinner Of The Week", the latest song from his upcoming EP.
The track follows "Wedding Daze" in teasing his next short-player - also titled Sinner Of The Week.
Merging brutally cool '80s synthpop motifs with his own inimitable vocal talents, Wilson creates something very special. From the off it ensnares you ears and heart; it oozes confidence and charm, with Wilson showing off a side full of swagger he's only hinted at so far. It's got MJ adlibs, devilish hooks, and funk-encrusted beats... what more could you want?
Speaking to The FADER about the track, Wilson says: "The song is about freedom and living in your truth, even when it's all too much and the pain doesn't seem worth it anymore. Learning to love yourself. Finding people who will love and accept you fully, without condescension.”
Wilson's Sinner Of The Week EP is out via his own Zap Records. It features collaborations with producers Matt Hales (Disclosure), Jimmy Harry (Madonna), and Jimmy Hogarth (Sia).
