Daniel Wilson announces new EP Sinner Of The Week, shares lead single "Wedding Daze"
Daniel Wilson is streaming new single "Wedding Daze", the first from upcoming EP Sinner Of The Week.
2014 saw a spate of excellent electro-soul works by Wilson, culminating in his boundary-bashing EP Boy Who Cried Thunder. It mixed electronica, pop, gospel, soul, and R&B with ingenuity and elegance - and "Wedding Daze" expands on that. This is a jagged, stabby, brassy expedition away from convention, with stuttering samples, low-slung beats, chilled-out whistles, gospel choirs, and rubberband vox snapping into dizzying falsetto without a moment's notice. The Michigan-based 24-year-old has an unfathomably excellent voice, but he's far from a one trick pony. This is refreshingly brilliant.
Speaking about the track, Wilson says: “'Wedding Daze' is about waiting for a dream to come true, but it never does...”
Wilson's Sinner Of The Week EP is out via his own Zap Records. It features collaborations with producers Matt Hales (Disclosure), Jimmy Harry (Madonna), and Jimmy Hogarth (Sia).
