Dan Crossley debuts with the polished synth-pop of “Feel”
Backed with echoing, reverb-laden backing vocals, and a steady chug of synthesisers, Dan Crossley’s debut is a perfect fit for 2017’s poposphere.
“Feel” is a polished track, clearly heavily influenced by the sounds of several credible current popstars. There’s elements of Danish darling MØ’s warped dancehall, and the huge electro-pop chorus can’t help but be reminiscent of controversial songwriter-producer duo The Chainsmokers.
Comparisons aside, “Feel” is a debut that firmly wedges Crossley’s foot in the door, and one that should be making pop fans sit up and pay attention. Whilst the production may be a calculated effort to emulate the stratospheric successes of his peers, underneath it lies a tidily crafted track of the highest songwriting quality.
At only 21 years of age, the Telford singer-songwriter has developed an ear for a pop hook that has secured him slots performing at several iconic London venues, including both The Royal Albert Hall and the O2 Arena. It’s a dead cert that we’ll be hearing plenty more from Crossley in the future.
