D/R/U/G/S reveals trippy melodic dance tune "Cheap Hearts" [Premiere]
Manchester's D/R/U/G/S, aka Callum Wright, is streaming new single "Cheap Hearts" on Best Fit.
"Cheap Hearts" is the first taste of his long-awaited debut record, due out next Spring.
The track rattles with a techno beat, but Wright's combined the hardness of his rhythms with endlessly slick synths and spaced-out bass. Vocals, imbued with the gravel of Matt Berninger, blend perfectly in the mix. "Cheap Hearts" is kinetic music made to move to, and it might look back to electronic music of the '90s in moments, but "Cheap Hearts" is the overwhelming sound of a producer with a clear, forward direction.
"Cheap Hearts" will be released on Bad Life (Petite Noir, Ten Fé).
D/R/U/G/S will play Hackney's Moth Club on 21 November to launch the single.
