Cut Ribbons unleash more infectious pop-rock with new track "Clouds" [Premiere]
Evolution is a wonderful thing in music. Building from what brought you together, throwing new elements on top of old to create something refreshing and yet true to its roots. It's exciting, it's important and it's exactly what the brilliant Cut Ribbons have done.
The Welsh outfit have always had an insatiable habit for producing infectious pop-rock and now they're back with an added ingredient to bolster their work and lift it carefully into new circles.
Once again beefy drums, chunky guitars and that effortless girl-boy vocal marriage leads the way, but by throwing some swirling synth lines and a healthy handful of "Hey!"s into the mix, they have sugar-coated their big choruses and knack for moreish melody into a glistening new cut to align with the summer, which appears well and truly on its way.
Aled from the band said: "'Clouds' is the first song that was fully constructed in our studio. It was recorded there before being sent to Jeremy Murphy, our producer. I suppose it's about trying to look at the positive in things through the eyes of two people's adventure. It's a big synth driven summer tune and is a slight departure from some of our more ethereal sounding tracks but definitely reflects where we are going musically."
Premiering today at Best Fit, steam this empowering new effort below. The "Clouds" have parted and Cut Ribbons and kicking-off the summer with a belter.
"Clouds" is released on 18 May. The band play The Great Escape on 14 and 15 May.
