Cristobal and the Sea tantalise on the balmy "Sunset Of Our Troubles"
Recall, the multi-national, London-based quartet Cristobal and the Sea dropped their impossibly breezy and dewy debut EP last…..December. It was an excellent first offering, and left me pining for some more of the same come Spring and Summer 2015.
Ah ha! Here we are, “Sunset Of Our Troubles” from the band’s upcoming debut LP – something else I was pining for – Sugar Now. It’s a more languid affair, no yelps or sexually sinister whispers in tongues, just some straight-forward balmy beach pop….
Oh, but what’s this flute? Things get decidedly less uncomplicated and harmless here. There’s a siren sighing in my ear, flicking her tongue, long-fingered hand slinking down my back guiding me into this club...hmm…I’ve never been here before…
Sugar Now is due out this summer courtesy of City Slang. Cristobal and the Sea are live tonight, 28 May, at Shepherd’s Bush in London and will appear 2 Aug at Bestival in Dorset.
