Cocoa Futures embrace soulful, sleek pop in new offering "Circus"
Cocoa Futures combine sleek summer pop with subtle soul on wistful new track "Circus".
"Circus" is a combination of soft, romantic instrumentals that meet with frontman Greg Sanderson's soulful twang to create a retro-tinged, near pop ballad that hits the heartstrings like a slow song at a school dance.
The minimalist instrumentals pan out a tiptoe journey that sees Cocoa Futures use subtle guitar riffs and electronica to create a sensual, yet subtle soundscape.
Speaking about "Circus", Greg Sanderson explained, "‘Circus’ is about patience. Patience seems pretty boring, but it’s secretly banging. You know when you really want something but can wait for it? Trying to get better at that is what ‘Circus’ is about."
"Circus" is also Sanderson's debut on piano, an instrument he's still getting to grips with.
The velvety, soulful vocals of Sanderson only exaggerate the theme of patience, as Cocoa Futures lustfully hold on to each word and note throughout the track.
