Cloves takes no prisoners on punchy new single “California Numb”
With her instantly recognisable vocal, Cloves’ new single “California Numb” packs one hell of a sun-drenched punch.
The Australian singer is renowned for baring her soul on previous releases, but her new single has a tougher, rough-and-ready feel to it. With an arrangement rooted in driving percussion and sharp-edged guitar, “California Numb” sees the influence of rock duo The Black Keys shining through beneath that distinctive voice.
“‘California Numb’ is the second track to be released from my forthcoming album and it's a real taste of the bluntness of the rest of the record,” Cloves explains, of the track’s take-no-prisoners vibe. “We've worked with the idea of big, interesting arrangements and keeping the album sonically blunt and hard, to mirror the lyrical context.”
