Claire share Chapter Two of their dramatic Raseiniai EP/short film [Premiere]
Munich electro-pop quintet are sharing chapter two of their Raseiniai short film/EP on Best Fit.
About a year ago, Claire were in London, where they had their tour van and every single piece of gear they owned stolen.
Fortunately that wasn't the end of the story, but as time wore on, the story got surreal.
While the police in the UK had given up hope of finding the thieves, Claire received an anonymous phone call. Then an anonymous email, providing a tip-off on where their gear was taken. Shortly afterwards, the Lithuanuan police raided a gang hideout in the rural town of Raseiniai, and managed to recover most of the items.
The result of all this is their new six-track EP Raseiniai. It's out today, and it's their first new material in two years.
Speaking about the experience, Claire say: “We decided soon after our bus and equipment were stolen to work through what had happened in our music. We are extremely grateful to the nameless informant. He is our unknown hero, and we have dedicated the EP to him.”
Getting ahead of Hollywood and their grabby hands, Claire have also workied with director Teresa Hoerl to create a 30-minute short film, which tells the (dramatised) story from the informants' POV.
Claire say: “The story was just asking to be made into a film, and since we had always wanted to write a soundtrack, this was the perfect opportunity!”
Debut album The Great Escape is out now. Its follow up arrives in 2016.
