Chi strikes out on her own with scintillating solo track "Hard To Be Happy"
Chi combines folk instrumentals with soulful vocal flourishes and palatable pop lyrics on her first release as a solo artist.
“Hard To Be Happy” opens on a meditative note, with Chi’s vocals layered over a swatch of placidly plucked electric guitar. Her soulful delivery proves enticing from the start, though the addition of percussion ultimately drives the song toward a euphoric conclusion. Chi’s voice is notably versatile, both soothing and powerful all at once.
She has previously collaborated with a handful of EDM artists, Grades among them, but “Hard To Be Happy” is her first step into the limelight in her own right. If the poise laid bare on her debut track is any indication, Chi will definitely be one to keep an eye on.
