Charlotte Spiral is “Wide Eyed” in their enigmatic debut
London duo Charlotte Spiral announce their debut EP Ideal Life with their hypnotic single “Wide Eyed”.
Emerging from the gloom with an intimate debut, Charlotte Spiral captivate with the stunning “Wide Eyed”. Teaming up with Speedy Wunderground’s Dan Carey on production, the new single is a lucidly understated ode that encapsulates their dreamy aesthetic perfectly.
Underpinned by sparse drumbeats and led by emotive piano work the track is at once hopeful and melancholy. Accompanied by visuals from director Morgan Sinclair that are shot entirely on analogue film, the video captures the mission to find joy in simplicity.
“’Wide Eyed’ is about wishing it was easier to enjoy the simple things in life, instead of comparing yourself to the people around you,” share Charlotte Spiral of the single. “It’s about wanting to be able to achieve something easily but being frustrated by the difficulties you face to get to it.
“Dan’s method of working is based on making quick decisions and committing to them,” the pair continue on the collaboration. “This resulted in a sound that feels very instinctive and strong in its identity”.
