Stockholm three piece CHANCVN prep the ground for their upcoming EP with new single "High Life"
Electro-pop trio CHANCVN (pronounced ‘chan-coon’ by the way, and comprised of Vanja Steinholtz, Sandra Karlsson and Jesper Svensson) have been active and gigging in Stockholm and around Sweden for close to a year, but have taken the slowburn route to recorded output, releasing only one song so far, the glossy synth-pop of "Heart Out".
Things are about to pick up for them on that front however, with a debut EP on the horizon and a brand new single, "High Life" dropping today.
"High Life" is built from dream waves of synths and guitars, which gradually build up into a soaring chorus. Interspersed with those waves is a solid, almost spoken word breakdown, which acts as an anchor and gives the track a solid structural base.
Singer Steinholtz says of the track: “I listened a lot to Tame Impala, Kurt Vile and Rihanna when writing it - heartbroken and in need of an explanation. I think I might have stolen the phrase ‘dust rain from our walls’ from some beat poem I found on mom’s bookshelves as a teen. It stuck with me as a both melancholic and frightening picture of tough love”.
Tough love or not, ‘High Life’ stands out as an emotionally raw and impressively grand piece of widescreen dream-pop.
