Caroline Lazar fights disconnection with her huge voice on the powerful "Trigger"
Following on from her stunning debut "Nevermine", Atlanta's Caroline Lazar is back with another track which will leave you reeling.
"Trigger" is simply astonishing in its brutal, affecting simplicity. The song moves from fragile whispers and sparse production, and slowly builds to a chorus that hits like a thunderclap.
While the swirl of Hammond organ and electric bursts of guitar are stirring enough, it's the moment that Lazar's voice - almost uncontrolled with passion and freed from any sort of guideline - roars above everything else that matters most. A force of nature razing anything which gets in its way, when Lazar sings "are you the trigger or the whole damn gun?" it's as much a demand to shake herself out of a malaise as it is a question for anyone else...and it absolutely confirms Caroline Lazar as a towering talent.
