Carnivals, the alias of Sheffield-based Stewart Green, releases his third EP, Yearn, at the end of September.
The title track is four minutes of eerie, incessant beats that get under your skin, writhe around, and leave a definite mark. It’s soaring but measured, and the crescendo that builds in the middle eight is subtly and brilliantly brought down to an icy finish. ‘Yearn’ shows an expansion in ideas and ambition from Carnivals, leading on from earlier single ‘Kindness’.
Yearn is released on 30 September.
