Carmody pours her heartache into "The Light Of Me"
Carmody’s “The Light Of Me” is a spacious pop track, being tugged in both folk and electro-infused directions throughout.
“The Light Of Me”’s release precedes that of the five-track EP from which it is taken. Its simple, keys-led verses give way to a more percussive chorus, holding the attention with interesting lyrical rhythms. As a taste of what’s to come, it’s utterly tantalising.
“It's kind of my redemption song,” Carmody explains of the inspiration behind the track. “A reminder to myself not to mess things up like I have in the past, and to forgive myself for the things that have happened. I do think you write the best songs when you've got an achy heart - that's always the silver lining for songwriters, I guess.” She adds that she hopes it will help fans “to not mistake the distance in a person for love.”
